Field Trip Stop 3-6 of the 2009 Desert Symposium (Reynolds and Jessey, 2009).

The Independence dikes cut the face of the metamorphosed limestone in the Paleozoic sedimentary section of the dolomite quarry. The narrow gauge Dolomite Railroad hauled the white calcium/magnesium carbonate rock to the C&C/N&C (later S. P.) railroad.
