Pearce, Pazzaglia, and Eppes (2004) studied the response of ephemeral alluvial streams to active tectonics at two sites along the north flank of the San Bernardino Mountains: at the Cougar Buttes topographically obvious anticlinal fold, and at a suspected but not obvious anticline at Pitzer Buttes.
