On the northwest side of Mono Lake, tucked up under Conway Summit, Conway Ranch is owned by Mono County. It is still irrigated and grazed. The water is delivered from Mill Creek in Lundy Canyon by way of Wilson Creek In the late 1990s, the ranch was the subject of controversy because of a plan to stop water delivery to Wilson Creek from Mill Creek. Today, the ranch is home to sheep and an innovative aquaculture operation. For over 100 years, the picturesque ranch has averted development.
