Setting: Lye Creek Campground is located in the Santa Rosa Mountain Range 60 miles north of Winnemucca, Nevada . The campground is nestled in a grove of aspen trees along Lye Creek.

Directions:

  • Primary route to access Campground is on U. S. Highway 95 for 22 miles to the junction with State Route 290, then north on SR290 18 miles to Paradise Valley , 16 miles north of Paradise Valley SR-792, heading toward Hinkey Summit.
  • The road will change to a gravel road. Continue on the gravel road until reaching a .2 miles over Hinkey Summit and adjacent to Martin Creek Guard Station, where the junction to Lye Creek Campground is located.
  • Access can also be gained off Highway 95 from the north, via the Canyon Creek Road (Forest Road 084). The road up Canyon Creek is marked Buckskin on Highway 95, about midway between Orovada and McDermitt.

Fees : $6.00 – 8.00 per night (*group site has $25.00 charge)

Elevation : 7,398 feet

Open/Close : June – October (weather permitting)

Facilities:

  • 14 sites tents and trailers/RVs under 24 feet long
  • 1 group site for up to 50 people
  • 2 no-flush toilets
  • Drinking water turned on in June through Labor Day,
  • No Electricity or sewage dumping hookups
  • No garbage bins
  • Gas/mini-mart 21 miles at the I-95 & SR290 junction

Activities: Fishing, Remote hikes, Picnicking, Hunting, OHVs are only allowed on roadways within the campground
