Scanned 28 October 2013. Coll. No. 95, 29 April 1997, characters observed while keying: Annual, to 15 cm., tap-rooted; Stem erect, variously short straight hairy; Inflorescence, solitary heads, with strap-shaped corollas present, head composed of 2 kinds of flowers, ray flowers 8, disc flowers ≥25; Phyllaries, in 1 series, 5.5 mm., with black tack-shaped glands and few hairs of varying length, margins folded enclosing ray flowers; Receptacle, paleate with a single ring of paleae separating ray and disc flowers; Pappus, on disc flowers only, 10 awl-shaped scales; Fruit, mature ray fruit compressed front-to-back, adaxial face covered by phyllary margins.
