No. 1168, 24 Jun 2015, characters observed: Perennial woody shrub, to 1 m., drying quite brittle; Stems, pubescence of stems interrupted by glabrescent streaks; Leaves, eglandular, primary leaf an appressed thorn, 4.5 mm., early deciduous, secondary leaves clustered in axils, 5.0 mm. × 0.8 mm. wide, linear to oblanceolate; Inflorescence, 7-8 heads on ends of short branches, none of flowers with strap-shaped corollas, flowers of one kind (disk flowers); Peduncle, 5.5-6.0 mm., tomentose; Involucre, cylindric; Phyllaries, #4, in 1 series, 6 mm., ±keeled, tomentose abaxially; Receptacle, epaleate; Flowers, #4; Corolla, yellow; Pappus of many well-developed bristles; Fruit, long soft hairy;
