Mesa Verde...in southwest Colorado…it is the NW edge of a great coal-bearing sandstone formation which dips beneath the San Juan Basin of New Mexico. It rises to 8000 ft…the escarpment on the N is 2000 ft high, overlooking the lower plateau, arid and desolate except for several irrigated valleys. The Mancos River skirts it on the south.


Elevation: 6765ft, 2062m.
