Symphyotrichum porteri (A. Gray) G.L. Nesom.  Smooth White Aster.

Twin Creek, Jefferson County, Colorado. About 7 miles west and south on F. R. 211 from its north end at County Road 126 to a USFS designated parking place, then about 200 m. generally west on old roads into the Twin Creek drainage, 11.8 km. southwest of Deckers. 39.20456°N, 105.34724°W. WGS 1984 Elev. 2389 m. Southwest facing slope. Also here: Artemisia frigida, Senecio spartioides, Cercocarpus montanus, Verbascum thapsus, Bouteloua gracilis, and Eriocoma robusta.

FNANM distinguishes this from S. pilosum by its lack of axillary clusters of leaves, yet these specimens have those axillary clusters.
