Veronica americana (Raf.) Benth.  American Speedwell.

Twin Creek, Jefferson County, Colorado. In running water and creek gravel on the right bank of Twin Creek, near its mouth at Goose Creek, about 250 m. southeast of the Sheeprock Trailhead, 7.7 mi. west and south on F. R. 211 from County Road 126., 11.9 km. southwest of Deckers. 39.19488°N, 105.34201°W. WGS 1984 Elev. 2219 m. Leaves petiolate; flowers in axillary racemes. Ponderosa pine and Douglas fir forest with Cornus sericea, Ribes cereum, Anemonastrum canadense, Geum macrophyllum var. perincisum, Galium boreale and Carex inops ssp. heliophila. Mature Douglas fir and ponderosa pines suggest the Hayman Fire (2002) may have burned with low intensity here.
