Scanned 10 December 2016. Perennial herb, to 40 cm.; Leaves, cauline, alternate, simple, petiole 7 mm. + blade 86 mm. × 30 mm. wide, adaxial, pustular hairy, hairs multicellular, crosswalls clear, abaxial, glandular and hairy; Inflorescence, heads borne singly on leafy stems, peduncles to 8 cm., hairy, glandular; Phyllaries in 2+ series, similar, 6-10 mm. × 2.0-3.5 mm. wide, erect, ovate, hairy abaxially, margins ciliate, tip acuminate, not as “stiff” or “tough” as those of Coll. No. 1199; Receptacle, slightly convex, paleate; Disk, 17 mm. wide; Palea, 9 mm., tip, glandular, hairy distally; Flowers, 2 kinds; Ray flowers, sterile, #10-12, corolla, 17-25 mm. × 6-9 mm. wide, yellow; Disk flowers, corolla, 5-6 mm., yellow, lobes, #5, 1 mm., yellow, anther appendages reddish-brown; Pappus of few long (2.5 mm.) aristate scales; Cypsela, not latterally compressed. Described from Coll. No. 1210, 13 Jul 2015, and Coll. No. 1426, 15 June 2016.
