Penstemon virgatus A. Gray var. asa-grayi (Crosswh.) Dorn.  Upright Blue Beardtongue.

Salt Creek, Park County, Colorado. Small valley between two ridges, just north of Salt Creek and Pike-San Isabel National Forest Road 435 "Salt Creek Road," 3.1 mi. by road west of US Highway 285, 145 km. southwest of the GNIS location of Golden. 38.959°N, 106.012°W. WGS 1984 Elev. 2853 m. Valley bottom, around a small grove of aspens, also collected here: Oxytropis sericea, Oenothera coronopifolia, and Artemisia frigida.
