Collection No. 3517, 11 September 2025, characters observed: Perennial herb, to 25 cm., caudex unknown; Stem, strigose; Leaves, cauline, alternate, sessile, blade 28 mm. × 2 mm. wide, reduced distally, linear to linear-oblanceolate, entire, margins regularly-spaced ciliate, tips white-spinulose; Inflorescence, 6± heads per stem; Involucre, 5 mm. × 7 mm. wide, bell-shaped; Phyllaries, unequal, 3± series, 4-5 mm. × 1.2 mm. wide, base indurate, diamond-shaped green distally, stipitate-glandular, margins flat, tips acuminate; Receptacle, epaleate; Flowers, of 2 kinds; Rays, #15±, tube 6 mm. + blade 6-7 mm. × 1.3 mm. wide, blue; Disk flowers, many, 4 mm., yellow; Pappus, many well-developed bristles, 4.5 mm., brown to light tan ("cinnamon to sordid" in FNANM); Cypsela, 1 mm. × 0.5 mm. wide, light brown. The FNANM term "strigoso-hispid" may apply more accurately to stem and leaf margin hairs.
