Betula occidentalis Hook.  Water Birch.

Morrison Creek, Jefferson County, Colorado. Buffalo Creek Recreation Area, along Morrison Creek and former National Forest Road 547, 2.55 km. south of National Forest Road 550, 63.2 km. south of the GNIS location of Golden. 39.3206N, 105.2839W. WGS 1984 Elev. 2442 m. Collected away from the creek, though there are others on banks of the creek; habitat is a opening in the forest, or “meadow” with many down trees; also collected here: Solidago missouriensis.
