Heritage Dells, south gulch, middle section between DeFrance Way and Crawford Street, 135 m. downstream of DeFrance Way, 4.2 km. south of the GNIS location of Golden. 39.71844°N, 105.21524°W. WGS 1984 Elev. 1889 m. Wet bottom of gulch with Carex occidentalis, Juncus interior, and Salix irrorata. The three gulches of Heritage Dells were designated a City of Golden Open Space in July, 2025.

North Twin Creek, Jefferson County, Colorado. On a right branch of North Twin Creek, about 900 m. upstream of the F. R. 211 crossing of North Twin Creek, 6.8 mi. west and south on F. R. 211 from its north end at County Road 126, 11.6 km. southwest of Deckers. 39.2145°N, 105.35142°W. WGS 1984 Elev. 2471 m. Stellate with a short beak. Bank of creek among aspen and river birch, with Mertensia ciliata, Dasiphora fruticosa, Platanthera aquilonis, Juncus ensifolius, and Carex stipata. Within the perimeter of the Hayman Fire (2002), though this area mapped as low intensity; vegetated only on the creek, forest not re-established away from creek.

R. 211 from its north end at County Road 126, 11.6 km. southwest of Deckers. 39.2145°N, 105.35142°W. WGS 1984 Elev. 2471 m. Accidental collection with #3439.2. A tiny little piece that probably does not deserve a voucher. Bank of creek among aspen and river birch, with Mertensia ciliata, Dasiphora fruticosa, Platanthera aquilonis, Juncus ensifolius, and Carex stipata. Inflorescence, 22-26 mm. × 8-9 mm. wide, 8-9 spikes, closely clustered;

Spikes, identical (appearing), brown (but not reddish), 7-9 mm. × 5-6 mm. wide, gynecandrous(?);

There are no anthers. However, there are filaments. In the upper spikes, the flowers are mixed staminate and pistillate with neither appearing to be particularly superior to the other.

Proximal bract, short (7.5 mm.) and setaceous (bristle-like);

Pistillate scales, 3.5 mm., <perigynia, green center, brawn laterally, hyaline margin;

Perigynia, #10 per spike, 3 mm. × 1.4 mm. wide, some weakly winged, papillate, beak flattish, ± sloping to tip, serrulate, achene to beak tip, 1.3 mm.;

Achene, 1.7 mm. × 1.4 mm. wide, biconvex;

Stigma, #2.

At first, I thought a Carex. However, it certainly looks like an annual. So it could be Cyperus.

Eleocharis compressa Sull.  Flatstem Spikerush.

Lippincott Ranch, Jefferson County, Colorado. Central "wasp waist" of ranch, just below the ranch road, 22.0 km. north northwest of the GNIS location of Golden. 39.9014°N, 105.274°W. WGS 1984 Elev. 1989 m. Culms flattened, scales bifid, achenes 3-sided, apical cap distinct. Wet grassland with a few ponderosa pines. Lippincott Ranch is jointly owned by City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks and Jefferson County Open Space.
